Configure Retail Ax-2012



Installation of AX Retail 2012 is not complected as Ax 5.0 Retail. To install 5.0 we need to install Stnd: Ax 2009 then need to install further components of Retail application.

Installation procedure for Ax-2012 Retail in much simpler, and can be configure in single setup file where it will install all the Stand:Ax components and Retail components

 In Ax 5.0, application will contain following modules,

  • Retail Head quarters 
  • Retail store inventory 
  • Retail scheduler 
In Ax 6.0, When you install Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail, the Retail module is added to Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Use this module to configure and manage stores, registers, retail products, and other information.application will contain Single module called RETAIL.

Lets Read the Installation procedure for Ax- Retail 2012

  1. First Install AX 2012 standard components like AOS, Client, Database, .Net Business connector. Then Install AX 2012 Retail components and configure Retail HQ in AX Client. 
    • Once the Instillation is done Define following parameters forms,
      • Import seed data.  
      • Retail Parameters
        • Specify the default store parameters 
        • specify the ware house and item and sales related settings Etc.
      •  Profiles, Stores(shops)
      •  Stuff, Vendors, Warehouses, Items(products), Prices
   2. Configure, Create and Start Retail Store Connect service with "Retail Store Connect Settings Utility"
  3. Start Retail Database utility and select "Configure Store Database
  4.  Replicate data between HQ database and new Store database by running all N - jobs at Retail      ->           Periodic -> Retail Scheduler -> Distribution scheduler.
  •  N-1095, N-1090 and N-1070 jobs are must run
  5. Start Retail Database utility and select "Configure Offline Database". Enter the name of a new POS     database and computer name where it will be created. Other parameters are the same as for Store Database creation.
6. Start POS utility and enter Operator ID (Staff id in HQ database) and password for that person (Retail -> Workers -> Retail -> POS Authentication). If it's not working check [dbo].[RETAILSTAFFTABLE] and [dbo].[RETAILSTOREADDRESSBOOK] in Store database. If there is no appropriate data in both of them than you should back to HQ database enter the missing data and rerun job N-1060.

 HINT: Retail -> Common -> Workers. Staff member with that ID should exists and should have assigned appropriate address book (if you don't know which one - select "all")
