Microsoft Dynamic AX 2012 for Retail - Item  Replenishment with Scenario's

 Concept of Replenishment

Small Scenario:- Universal retail is into Mobiles and Durables retail market. It is having several stores across the country. Lars is the Inventory manager who is responsible for taking care of inventory levels in the individual stores and main Warehouse(From where goods will be distributed to the stores).
"Nokia Lu mania" is very fast moving mobile in all the stores, so Lars has to take look at the filling of goods which are sold out, or decreasing in the self space.

Solution is to get the goods fill in the stores in such a way that Goods should be available at any point of time in all the stores.

Replenishment Definition:-  Acquiring product on a recurring basis to support anticipated need.

In much simpler way we can understand the Replenishment by understanding the DEMAND AND SUPPLY FULFILLMENT.

WOW:---Products should be available in Right Time and at Right Place through the right channel.

Replenishment Retail In Ax-2012

In first step, we need to define the Retail product hierarchies.

Retail --> Setup --> Category hierarchy --> Retail product category

Retail product category form where organizations can define the items in a organized way. In more precisely we can define the Product properties like Shelf space etc. and Basic product properties like unit of measure for sales, purchase and Inventory. Even we can assign the items to Vendor categories.

Then we have to define the Assortments(Collection(grouping) of similar items or products)
Assortments

In assortment, organizations can group the items in the organized way to run the replenishment plan.

after defining the assortments we have to define the Organization hierarchies, where we can assign the stores to make a final setup to run the assortment and store based replenishment.

Features of Ax Retail 2012 are as follows
  • Manage inventory transfers and intercompany flows with an end-to-end view of the business.
  • Comprehensively manage purchasing, requisition, and replenishment processes.
  • Optimize purchasing and replenishment: purchase quantities based on size, color, and style; use replenishment processes, including cross-docking, to suggest item distribution between stores, with immediate transfer journal updates.

In next artical we will see how the Replenishment will run in the AX Retail -2012.
