Today we will look at Products number sharing in Organization level and individual legal entity level..

Main advantages:

• Centralized repository of Products 
• No need to define the same Product in each legal entity, just need to Release the product at each legal entity for further validation and transactions.
•  Fully supports the Inter company supply chain process like Master planing through out the Organization level, Consolidation reports of products.
• Consolidation reports will have the Product number instead if each legal entity Item number.
• Can define legal entity level Trade agreements etc.

The new Product information management module in Dynamics AX 2012 allows users to create and manage shared product definition data in a centralized and consistent way.




In above defining the new product process, we can assign the Product number as a Identification at Organization level and Item number at Company specific identification.

Small note: Each product has to release at least one legal entity to be included on a transaction, line or before orders can be created against the product. The release process allows users to control which products become released products in which legal entities.

Inter-company supply chains 

Master planning: Intercompany demand and supply during master scheduling or to establish the relationship between the intercompany sales and purchase orders via Product number. I.E it will not consider the legal entity specific  item number while running the Master planing.
