Retail Product Hierarchy

Organizations need product hierarchy to organize the products that you sell through your retail channels.

In 2012 Retail Organizations are offered with a new concept called Retail Product Hierarchies,

What it does: - Organizations can create and assign the Products to retail category to sell through the Retail channels

Uses: -

• Retail product hierarchies
• Customer loyalty programs,
• Assign product attributes and
• Retail product properties

ü  Once the Retail Hierarchies and categories are created, Organizations can assign it to the Assortments

Rules Every Organization should have at least one Retail based category hierarchy type, (In earlier post we have learned the types of Category hierarchy)

Without Retail based category hierarchy type, if organization tries to create the Retail product hierarchies products, it will show following error,

So solution is before proceeding further, we need to create a Category hierarchy and should be assigned to Retail Product Hierarchy type.

Scenario:-

Soren is a Retail operation manager, who is responsible to categories the products in the way that they behave in terms of Organizational business process.

Suppose, in the Univercell, retail outlets, Items will be categories in terms of their existence like Mobiles and Durables.

For this Soren has to create the Retail and Supplemental categories for all the retail channels in the Univercell. After creation of Hierarchies he will assign the products to the newly defined hierarchies.

In the earlier topics we have to learn that there should be single Retail hierarchy and there can be more 1 Supplemental category for an Organization.

Steps:-

1. Creation of Hierarchies for both Retail and Supplemental – (Product information management module)
2. Assign the newly created Hierarchies to the Hierarchy types—(Product information management module)
3. Assign the Products to the Retail and Supplemental hierarchy items. (Retail module)

Set up a category hierarchy and assign a hierarchy purpose (Types)

Step 1:-

Product information management > Setup > Categories > Category hierarchies > Category hierarchies

In this form Soren can create category hierarchies.

Step 2:-

Product information management > Setup > Categories > Category hierarchies > Category hierarchy types

In this form Sore have to select the Category hierarchy type and assign the newly created Category hierarchy.

Step3:-

Retail > Setup > Retail Product hierarchy/ Supplemental Retail hierarchies

In this form Soren can assign the Products, other properties to the Retail and Supplemental hierarchies.

Note: - We can assign the Products in Organization wide to the Hierarchies (irrespective of Legal entity)

Category based property settings for products.
